The construction of a bespoke four-bedroom detached family home, designed around a traditional green oak structural frame and finished to an exceptional specification throughout. The development also included a detached double garage with first-floor accommodation, swimming pool and extensive external works to create a high-quality countryside residence.
Morris + Blunt delivered the project from groundworks through to completion, coordinating the construction of the bespoke green oak frame, high-quality internal finishes and carefully designed landscaping to create a home that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern living.
Scope of work
Groundworks & Structural Construction
The project commenced with extensive groundworks and reinforced foundations in accordance with the structural engineer’s design, providing the base for both the main residence and detached garage. Following completion of the substructure, the specialist green oak frame was erected to form the principal structure of the new home, while piled foundations supported the detached garage and ancillary accommodation.
External Envelope
The exterior combines traditional materials with modern construction techniques, featuring facing brickwork to plinth level with brick infill panels set within the exposed green oak frame. A complex hand-cut timber roof structure was completed with handmade clay roof tiles to the pitched roofs and lead coverings to the flat roof areas, complemented by polyester powder-coated aluminium fascias, soffits and rainwater goods.
High Specification Interior
Internally, the property was finished to an exceptional standard, creating a warm and contemporary family home while showcasing the natural character of the exposed oak frame. Accommodation includes generous living spaces, a bespoke fitted kitchen, feature drawing room fireplace and a striking fully glazed dining room gable, maximising natural light and views across the surrounding landscape.
Modern building services include underfloor heating throughout the property together with air conditioning to all bedrooms, while stone and engineered oak flooring provide a consistent, high-quality finish throughout.
External Works & Landscaping
The external works transformed the surrounding grounds, incorporating a large rear entertaining terrace with swimming pool and outdoor kitchen, together with extensive hard and soft landscaping. Additional works included irrigation systems, feature external lighting, alterations to the entrance driveway and the installation of high-security entrance and exit gates, creating an impressive arrival experience and completing this bespoke family home.
