With over 30 years’ experience working in local Schools and Academies, both via Local Authorities and direct appointment, we can justifiably claim to be specialists as a main construction contractor. Many of our construction contracts are based on recommendation, leading to repeat works and negotiated projects.

We have worked on new build classrooms, halls and kitchens, playgrounds, toilet refurbishments, roofing and detailed refurbishments of specialist areas such as food technology and science laboratories. We also undertake fire precaution and DDA access requirements works. All our staff fully understand the nature of working within a school environment, all having up-to-date enhanced DBS disclosures.

Local Authority and Community projects are varied in nature and each has its own challenges. From working in public buildings, such as Libraries, Town Halls, Public Theatres and places of worship, to care facilities for the more vulnerable members of our community. Morris & Blunt Ltd appreciate the impact construction work has on local communities and we aim to reduce this, whilst making positive contributions to the communities within Reading and the greater Berkshire area where our work is carried out.

Sports and Leisure facilities each introduce their own particular demands, requiring hard-wearing finishes and high standards of workmanship. Working around busy Sports Centre schedules and educational buildings increases the challenge. Morris & Blunt Ltd is fast gaining a reputation for delivering high quality results whilst causing minimum disruption.

Our residential construction work is extremely broad-based, encompassing large scale Local Authority refurbishments, new build projects, as well as work on highly sensitive developments such as listed buildings and sites within conservation areas.

Our approach is always one of thoroughness and high quality. Increasingly we are embracing new technologies addressing environmental concerns such as heat exchangers, solar panels and environmental rainwater flushing tanks.

Our new-build work has been varied from one-off luxury houses through to listed townhouses. This type of work requiring high-quality finished development is something we find particularly rewarding. Organisation and communication are key – disciplines we implement throughout all our work. We have also undertaken works for private clients with confidentiality agreements in place to protect their privacy.

Morris & Blunt Ltd provide a construction service to build quality industrial and retail buildings efficiently and to a high standard. This includes the provision of design facilities to achieve sustainable buildings, optimise BREEAM ratings and achieve client carbon commitments. We provide a flexible approach and appreciate the need to maintain rigid budgetary control and compliance within strict timescales in this competitive sector.

Projects for the Emergency Services are an extremely sensitive environment to work in. We have a great deal of experience in this sector and are an approved main contractor for the Berkshire NHS Trust.

Our work has encompassed Care Homes, live Hospital Wards and Treatment Rooms, as well as works for the Ministry of Defence, Police & Fire Department. All contracts are managed in a highly sensitive manner to minimise disruption and ensure the required high quality of finish. All our staff satisfy the stringent security and competence standards required to work for such clients.
