What we did

The four-phase project was carried out over a period of 18 months consisting of both new build and refurbishment works to provide two form entry for the Primary School together with associated car parking hard and soft landscaping works.

The extension and refurbishment project included the construction of 6 new classrooms, circulation areas storage cupboards, meeting rooms and WC’s for both staff and pupils. The existing building received a refurbishment of the classroom spaces, Main hall and audio-visual room together with the creation of new WC facilities, office, group room and a medical inspection room. 

Construction methods included; undertaking fifty eight piles at a depth of fifteen metres each, excavation formwork and reinforcement, concreting of ground beams, new pre-cast concrete block and beam flooring, brickwork & blockwork, roof trusses, aluminium standing seam roof coverings, aluminium windows and doors, underfloor heating system, carpentry works, suspended ceilings, electrical and mechanical modifications together with new supplies.

The most challenging aspect of this project was working together with School staff to ensure the safety of all pupils, staff and visitors as the majority of works were undertaken during term time. To achieve this meticulous planning, regular liaison meetings were held and chaired by our Construction Manager and site team to ensure the successful delivery and completion of each phase whilst implementing Morris & Blunt Ltd strict health and safety policy.
