What we did

Morris and Blunt Ltd. undertook the design and construction of the works at Foundry College in Wokingham to provide an enhancement to the existing facilities to the Pupil Referral Unit.

The works were undertaken in four individual phases comprising a new build entrance, reception, offices and WC facilities and linking corridor at the front of the school, and a new build timber clad DIY workshop to the rear of the school including a covered exterior workshop space.
In addition, the remainder of the existing building was remodelled and refurbished in two further phases including new lighting, power, security, access control and fire alarm systems, heating, ventilation, internal doors, decorations, suspended ceilings, floor coverings, and fixtures and fittings.

Externally, hard and soft landscaping adapting the site perimeter into the surrounding pockets of land allowed the provision of additional exterior play space.

The entrance to the works were shared with an adjacent Children’s Centre, with a Primary School and Nursery School also in close proximity. The project works were undertaken during term times and careful planning was taken into consideration with the close presence of school staff, students, and visitors. Works were suitably segregated to protect third parties from any hazardous activities involved with the construction activities.
