What we did

The works involved the demolition of two load bearing walls on the first floor with the use of temporary structural needle propping as per the site-specific temporary works design to enable the installation of new steel beams. New acoustic stud partitions were installed to alter the existing layout of the classrooms.

Internally the classrooms received new plaster ceiling finishes, fire precautions, bespoke skirting and plaster coving to match existing, floor finishes, wash hand basins and sink units, noticeboards, window film, roller blinds, vision panels and decoration finishes. This then allowed the installation of new bespoke teacher wall systems.

At first floor level works included cavity wall construction to block up existing external doors and installation of a new external window and aluminium door set. A new level threshold access ramp has been incorporated to meet DDA requirements.

The existing boiler house has been stripped out and new boiler, controls system and heating facilities have been installed. New mechanical installations have included radiators, heating pipework, air cooling units and new waste connections to sink units. Electrical installations have included new LED lighting, emergency lighting, fire detection, small power and AV connections.
