What we did

The new extensions were undertaken during term time with phased completions as works progressed. At the same time refurbishment of existing classrooms providing new ceilings, lighting and ventilation systems took place.

The extensions had traditional strip foundations with beam and block floors and a structural steel portal frame. External elevations consisted of insulated composite panels with glazed aluminium framed windows and doors. Both insulated composite panels and single ply membranes provided the roof coverings. Internally acoustic partitions created the new spaces with suspended ceilings throughout.

New mechanical and electrical systems were installed including a new heating system, ventilation, lighting, power, data, fire alarm and intruder alarm works. Externally ramped and stepped access were provided to enable safe access and egress.

The most challenging aspect of this project was working together with School staff to ensure the safety of all pupils, staff and visitors as the majority of works were undertaken during term time. To achieve this meticulous planning, regular liaison meetings were held and chaired by our Construction Manager and site team to ensure the successful delivery and completion of each phase whilst implementing Morris & Blunt Ltd strict health and safety policy.
